Do something for yourself

Sometimes I have thoughts in my mind about the things I could do or I want to do or the things I would do if I had the time. I’m sure everyone has these thoughts.
So how do we get these things done? Maybe you agree that as long as this thoughts are ONLY in our mind they remain some kind of theoretic concept. There are 2 bad things about this:
They become more and more, so more and more things you would like to do but somehow haven’t done yet.
You FORGET some of those things. Obviously the longer the list gets the more likely we are to forget things on this imaginary list. Not necessary because they didn’t mean anything to us, just because other things popped up and we have a limited attention span.
So how do we get these things done then? You know what the easiest way is that we tend to forget too often? WRITE THEM DOWN!
It’s as easy as is sounds. I just tried it out last week. I had some things on my mind that I was pushing from one week to the other like finishing my homepage, buying a domain, changing my facebook page etc. Many little things that didn’t seem too attactive to me. Then I got this little advice to write them down. Again this took me some days but then I finally sat down and wrote those things down.
Writing things down has two major advantages:
You can look at them whenever you want.
No idea gets lost.
You can tick them off (which the best part about it!).
The moment I wrote those things down I didn’t think that it would actually work but I really felt like starting to get things done. So I started little by little and set the target to tick off one thing every day, so now at the end of the week I can look back to many accomplishments and this is a great feeling.
Obviously if you’re working full-time it might not be possible for you to do something for yourself every day, but maybe every week? Or you split the tasks to mini-tasks where you can really take a step every day.
Maybe some of you would say they don’t understand what I mean with this list and why it is is necessary at all to set tasks for oneself. I believe everyone has little or even big dreams, passions, hobbies etc. And it’s great to take the time to think about these things and find the time for doing them. Because it’s a great feeling to do something for yourself. Not because you get money for it or because it’s fancy, just because of pure love for yourself.
