I had an interesting experience this week, my boss was gone this week so I was alone with my colleague and 2 interns of the client. We are all more or less the same age and we get along very well with each other.

Obviously the amount of work was not less only because our boss was gone, she gave us a lot of tasks before she left. But the atmosphere changed a lot.

In the beginning things were like before but as time flew by we got more and more childish. Oh, how I loved it! Don’t get me wrong, we worked just as much as before and fulfilled a lot of tasks but still we giggled a lot, had very funny lunch breaks and even some drinks on Friday afternoon.

We just made jokes about everything and as noone was watching us we were just… ourselves! No reason to put on a “corporate mask” or wear business clothes. We were just ourselves, the purest, most childish and funniest version of ourselves.

I haven’t behaved like this for a while now, I really loved it. I came to work every day with a smile and I also left with a smile. We had a lot of tasks which weren’t exactly funny but it didn’t matter because we created such a great atmosphere within ourselves.

Now imagine work would always be like this? For us it was only a week as I don’t think our boss would tolerate us joking all the time or at least she would think we do not take work seriously. Indeed we do but we don’t take ourselves seriously. There is a huge difference.

I have been thinking a lot recently about what makes me happy or how I would distinguish the good days in my life from the not so good ones if I only look at myself and not at my current life situation. It is definitely being connected with my inner child and just following my needs. And one of this needs is definitely making stupid jokes and laughing a lot. Everyone who knows me knows that this is a part of my personality.

The beautiful thing about this is that you can create this every day for yourself. No matter what your current situation looks like, if you are satisfied with your work or not, if you are in a relationship or not, if you have a lot of money or not, you can create a happy atmosphere for yourself.

So in conclusion what makes me happy is revealing my inner child and being just the childish , never-growing-up and never-too-serious person I actually am. Do you know what makes you happy?
